Fixing a Broken User Journey
I partnered with a premium eyelash and beauty brand in Australia to rescue their underperforming Shopify store. Their existing website had a highly confusing user journey. Customers were getting lost in poor navigation and abandoning their carts before reaching checkout.
To make matters worse, the backend was heavily bloated with dozens of unused plugins. These third party apps were injecting unnecessary JavaScript into the DOM, severely dragging down the website performance.
Extreme Performance Optimization
The biggest technical win for this project was making the website 80% faster. I achieved this by aggressively auditing the codebase and stripping out all the unused Shopify apps.
Instead of relying on heavy plugins for basic functionalities, I moved the necessary features directly into native Shopify Liquid code. By optimizing asset delivery and cleaning up the legacy architecture, the site speed improved drastically, providing a much smoother experience for mobile shoppers.
Building a TikTok Style Video Experience
To engage the modern beauty consumer, I engineered a custom scrolling video feature directly into the Shopify theme.
This UI mimics the native TikTok and Instagram Reels experience. It allows users to infinitely scroll through high quality eyelash application tutorials and product videos without ever leaving the storefront. Building this natively ensured the video playback was seamless and did not compromise the newly optimized page load speed.
